Daily Dose of Random: Opinion Poll #2

1 week since my last post – crap I thought I was getting better! Apparently not. My excuse this time? I don’t have one. I’m sorry. I feel like such a terrible blogger but I think I have a case of the January-blues. I can’t even really complain about the weather, because as Januaries in the “Great White North” go, we’ve been having a pretty damn good one. It’s been unusually warm and we’ve barely had snow (aside from today ironically). Not that I’m particularly gloomy either, I think it’s rather that I’m so tired and worn out these days that I don’t want to do anything but curl up in bed in my sweats and sleep.

Sleep is what brings me to the title of this post. I posted an opinion poll a few months ago about water temperature and teeth brushing. It was really interesting to me to see everyone’s responses. So now I have another one.

This once again started with a conversation between my mother and I. She’s always had trouble sleeping, and generally only manages about 4-5 hours per night. This seems to work for her so her body has gotten used to it. Recently she’s been complaining about waking up throughout the night. Not long she says, but she’ll definitely wake up, look at the clock essentially, and then go back to sleep. She’s stated numerous times that this bothers her because she’s accustomed to her 4-5 hours of solid sleep.

She was very surprised to learn that waking up throughout the night is normal to me. It always has been. Typically I’ll wake up and see the time about 3 times per night; sometimes more and sometimes less. I’ve been waking up periodically my whole life. I’m usually only awake long enough to look at the clock and figure out roughly how many more hours I have before my alarm, but nonetheless I wake.

What do all of you do?

100th Post!

I had a whole "updates" post ready, but that's currently saved as a draft entitled "report" on my work e-mail which is only accessible from my actual work-computer. I'm currently covering a different desk so this is the best I could do. Also, since there is no way of me creating a beautiful image like the one above, I stole it from google-images. Credit is given here.

But yes, I'm officially on post 100! I know it only says 99 on blogger, but I have one draft saved from back in August that I chose not to post. When I started this blog back in March I never thought I'd get this far. I've met the most wonderful bloggy-friends and I feel like I've learned so much about all of your lives in the process too!

I had grand plans for this post, but those all seemed to go by the wayside. I just want to say a very heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who passes through my little corner of the blogosphere! Without you I would not be here.

I'm starting to sound like an Awards speech. Speaking of which, go see Avatar! It's amazing!

Thank you all! Here's to the next 100 posts!

I'm Baaaaack! (With an explanation and apology!)

I’m back from my bloggy-hiatus. I apologize profusely for going MIA for so long! It’s been my intention to write for D-A-Y-S now but I just have not had the time or energy.

I completely failed the Best of 2009 Blog Challenge although I was doing pretty well until Christmas. I had grand plans to spend the week between Christmas and New Years catching up on my blogging and reading all of your lovely blogs. It seems my health had other plans.

I got sick. Very sick. I haven’t been that sick in years. I’ll spare you all the gory details, but safe to say I spent from the 28th until the 31st in bed. I didn’t leave the house except for 2 doctors visits and one pharmacy trip. It wasn’t pretty.

I had originally planned to have some people over for New Years Eve (including ShyBoy – more on that later) but as late as 4:30 on New Year’s Eve day I was still in bed and still on pure crackers and ginger ale and seriously considering cancelling. In the end I had the party, although I spent a good portion of it watching everyone else have fun. At the beginning of the week I had given some thought to the obvious dilemma/awkwardness that New Year’s Eve represents, but by the first doctor’s visit where he told me I shouldn’t cough near people (let alone anything else) I let any NYE thoughts go. All in all the night was good, nothing to update you on. ShyBoy did come, although I was feeling so terrible for most of the party that I really don’t remember much that happened.

Anyway, I digress.

By January 1st I was feeling a little better, but my energy levels still went up and down. My dad came into town on the 2nd for a few days for my birthday (the 4th) so I had very little time. Between the holidays, my birthday and being sick, I ended up being off work for a week and had a WHOLE whack load of work to catch up on last week. With my energy not being 100% yet, I came home most nights last week and went straight to bed. Sad but true. Last weekend I planned to go out with a bunch of friends on Friday night and then I had my work Holiday Party on Saturday night. I’ll save those updates for my next post too, but needless to say I’ve been pretty busy.

I’m very much looking forward to doing nothing but catching up on errands, housework, your blogs and sleep this coming weekend!

I hope you all had a good start to 2010! Fill me in on your New Year’s Eve’s! What did you do?
